Honestly, this important piece of research, from a respected research journal, repays reading all the way through.

This is delightful.
It seems the half life of a teaspoon in a communal area is 81 days.
I use this in teaching it's fab

Yet another wacky study on renowned medical journal BMJ and a potential follow-up #AcademicChatter
@RobynBu91236532 My 1 second unsystematic review of the literature did not reveal a satisfactory answer but reminded me of this 4* clearly REFable paper on the matter of disappearing teaspoons https://t.co/dHU1KR7DWU
@SophiaGrene @TheQuantumMage @joannathemad89 You may have seen this before, but teaspoons are known for disappearing whereas wire coathangers are known to multiply. https://t.co/leoVCpuwGH

This is the research we need! Now, a comparative study of cutlery attrition in academia vs. other workplaces. I hypothesize the former has a much shorter half-life and higher disappearance rate. Also, I hypothesize forks disappear faster than spoons. http
An interesting phenomenon @Ebuka So interesting it motivated research, with evidence of attendant economic implications of missing cutlery. This study,is proof, you can research on any situation that requires answers. https://t.co/mjxfyqw5oI #medtwitt
@Ebuka You know it's just such an interesting and inexplicable phenomenon, that an Australian research institute conducted a published research on this. Read here: https://t.co/A9Lu35aohk
@Sarradis According to the research, half will be gone in 80 days. https://t.co/FK4EE0maZw

Shocking. "The incidence of teaspoon loss over the period of observation was 360.62 per 100 teaspoon years. At this rate, an estimated 250 teaspoons would need to be purchased annually to maintain a practical institute-wide population of 70 teaspoons."
